Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American dancer, actress and singer since the early 1990s. Her early Broadway productions include Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. She was awarded an award from the Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in the Play to play Essie Carmichael in You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director, has spent the majority of her career working with prominent directors and actors on screen and in television. Ashford can be seen next starring alongside Kumail Nanjiani, in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It premieres on the 22nd of November. Ashford's current project includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film will be aired on Disney DTC as an Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return is scheduled to take place in March 2023 when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), exactly the same group that produced Hamilton, will direct the show. Ashford's last role was as Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the nationwide scandal that involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. She was the star of two seasons on CBS Comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role in the role of Essie. Other Broadway credits are Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and her first role as Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. Her birthplace and childhood was in Denver Ashford currently splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
